Navigating the South Australian Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Scheme (SA MAIS)

Administered by the Department of Planning, Transport, and Infrastructure (DPTI), this programme is designed to aid drivers in regaining their licences post-DUI disqualification. Completing the Programme & Removal Process
The path to having your interlock device removed hinges on compliance and consistent sober driving. If the device records no BAC violations during the final three months of your programme, you become eligible for removal of the interlock device. Instances of a single BAC violation do not necessarily preclude you from removal; this will be subject to approval from the registrar. However, recording two or more BAC violations will mean the interlock device remains in place, with an extension of the programme length determined and communicated to you.
